RESIDENTIAL DESIGN
REFUGEE HOUSE
II Project Parameters
Site: House 400
Location: 1267 Shillington Avenue
Occupancy: 3 - 6 people
Objective: to design a transitional home for refugees, where they will live for 1 - 3 months, before they move to a permanent housing.
II Concept
In redesigning House 400, inclusive and nature were the key attributes implemented to help the refugees transition into their life in Canada.
As a transitional house, it needs to accommodate to all the possible residents. In regards to this, all three levels of the home are designed to be accessible. Furthermore, all floors are designed to have an open area that encourages the residents to come together, creating a sense of community.
Lastly, natural finishes, greenery and ample natural light are integrated to establish a peaceful, comfortable and safe environment.
